Allergy free recipe ideas for a 16 month old?
My daughter cannot have the following:
Wheat/gluten
Yeast
Soy
Eggs
Dairy
Peanuts
Fish
Tree Nuts
Every morning she has been eating cream of rice with applesauce or some fruit mixed in. She also has to drink Rice milk since she cannot have cow’s milk or soy or almond milk. All the rice is beginning to constipate her.
I am looking for some good breakfast ideas that are quick and easy to replace all the rice she is getting. I did find a cereal online by Orgran but it is difficult finding it around my house and I don’t want to order it online and pay $17 for a box of cereal.
Wow-that sure can be difficult! I have found a great website that I use often. It is called befreeforme.com. You can “customize” the website to be “free” from various allergens-such as gluten, soy, diary, nuts, etc. In your case-choose all of them. It brings up lists of recipes (and you can choose what type/meal too) and it will send you email updates if you wish. I don’t think eggs are an option on there, but obviously, just look at the ones that don’t use them. It would still be great for other ideas. Have you tried making recipes for her with Quinoa? It is free of all the above ingredients, high in protein, and a very versatile grain. You should find lots of recipes on this site, or google quinoa recipes. Everyone I know that has tried it really liked it, and it can be made into some good breakfast dishes too. Also, you might want to get some gluten free oats to make her some oatmeal. There are several companies that sell certified GF oats-including Bob’s Red Mill brand. I love these to make peach, apple or berry crisp for dessert too! (or breakfast!)
