Mixed Drink Recipes Scotch
I’m not a big drinker, I’m talking twice a year. What’s the difference…?
…between bourbon, scotch, brandy, cognac? Which one(s) are the best tasting and/or the least harsh tasting? What do I mix it with, if anything? I hate beer, btw…Vodka’s ok…any mellow recipes?
I’m feeling like a good night of drinking is in order and I want to try something new. Thanks!
vodka mixes well with just about anything. seriously. from 7up to pomagranette juice. its good with 7-up or sprite with a squeeze of fresh lime. if you can’t take the flavor, you can always add another squeeze.
as far as the others… … lets see.
bourbon mixes well with coke, sprite, but you can always taste it. i’m not a fan. if you have any other liquors to mix it with, you can do
- 1 shot bourbon
-1/2 shot peach schnapps
-3-4 shots cranberry jice
its called a Red Snapper and you can have it as a cocktail or strain the ice out for shooters.
sub the cranberry for sour mix and you’ve got a Water Moccasin
you can also do
-bourbon
-ammaretto liquor
-cranberry or sour mix
i can’t remember the name of those two, but they are popular drinks.
most people will tell you its a sin to mix anything with brandy, cognac and scotch, though i have had customers mix them with coke or a splash of water.
as far as the differences between them all… taste. you can get much more technical than that, but it really only comes down to what you like. since you’re not a big drinker, i recomend mixers at first. see if you develope the taste for any of it. and make sure your ice is clear and solid. bad ice (when its started to go soft) will melt too fast and ruin the beverage and white colored ice can completely change the flavor of the drink.
to me, brandy is the least harsh. it still has a bit of a bite, but its usually very sweet and smooth. its odd that brandy and cognac are considered family, because they don’t seem alike at all to me. perhaps its in the brewing…
