Cash Strapped On Valentine’S Day?
Almost everyone is feeling the crunch of the recession unless you are one of the elite group of wealthy Americans who has gone unaffected by the plunge that the economy has taken. With only 45 days since the last big holiday there is little time to recover from the expenditures of the holiday season before shelling out cash again for Valentine’s Day.
You don’t want to do the ole’ homemade coupon book filled with free massages, sensual manicures and gourmet candlelight dinner prepared by you. You don’t want to play strip poker at home betting shots of Patron (or maybe you do). You don’t want to shrug the day off saying “Valentine’s Day is just a holiday for capitalism” that Hallmark made up. So how do you make your sweetheart happy with something uniquely special without parting with your arm and leg, or simply spending your work week Starbucks allowance?
Here are a few simple ideas that are sure to WOW your lover:
- Hire an inexpensive photographer from Craigslist.com or a photography student from the local university to take sexy pictures of you. You don’t have to be nude to take some very alluring photographs. If you don’t have a Fredrick’s Of Hollywood budget for lingerie a nice piece of fabric will do and only cost a few bucks. After your photo shoot when you’ve chosen the best shot, have it enlarged and transferred to a canvas print. Wrap it in the shiniest paper you can find and seal it with ribbon and a big bow. This will make a keepsake gift never to be forgotten.
- Invite some friend couples over for a themed dinner party. I like the idea of Moroccan because there’s just something sensual about it. Plan out the menu, print recipes from the Internet if necessary and have each couple bring a dish and a dessert. Hire a belly dancer to arrive soon after dinner to entertain. It’ll be fun to relieve some of the pressure of Valentine’s Day off of a single couple and share the love with mutual friends. I guarantee your sweetheart will always remember that special day.
- Meet for the first time, again. Choose a new cocktail lounge to meet at. If you live together, get dressed separately and leave the house in different cars so that you don’t know what the other is wearing. Plan to arrive at staggered times. The first person to arrive should have a seat at the bar to enjoy a drink and take in the atmosphere. Flirt with other single people in the lounge. When your partner arrives allow them to sit separately at the bar as if you don’t know one another. When the time is right send a drink, have the bartender deliver a note on a napkin and make your move. Meet each other for the first time, again. Have fun flirting and playing with your new pickup at the bar.
Whatever you decide to do this Valentine’s Day to show your love make it memorable. Flowers, chocolates and a romantic dinner at the upscale restaurant are all mundane, it is the expected. Even if you are on a tight budget do a little research to discover some unique, inexpensive ways to give your lover a lasting memory.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
