drink recipes mint julep
What type of nuts do you top a traditional American banana split with?

I’ve looked up recipes and all it ever says is “top with chopped nuts”. Will any kind do?

Also, I’m in Italy. We have gelato which, I’ve heard, is quite different than American ice cream. I’ve never had American ice cream though so I’m not sure…it will taste okay anyway, right?

One more question…what are your favorite American dishes (aside from hamburgers and hot dogs!). I’m starting to do international cooking and America is first on my list…banana split looked incredibly easy, so I start with that. I want to make mint julep (the drink), chicken and dumplings, collard greens (though not sure if can get them), Jambalaya, sweet potatoe pie, red beans and rice, cornbread (is also served in glass of milk a lot?), hushpuppies, grits, red velvet cake, pecan brittle, moon pies and so on and so on…not all at once of course! :-P Any other suggestions?

Thank you!

chopped salted peanuts…there is something about the salt and the sweet…wow…its delicious!
