How do I make a Mai Tai?
So, it’s Xmas tomorrow, and I want to make some cocktails to enjoy during the day. My favourite is the Mai Tai. This is the list I have at the moment.
*1 oz light rum
*1 oz gold rum
*½ oz orange curaçao
*½ oz almond liqueur (amaretto)
*1⁄3 oz grenadine
*½ oz lime juice
Is there anything i’m missing? I always thought it had pineapple juice in it. Anyone else have other recipes that work just as well??
Also, does anyone know where I can get Almond Liqueur from, and also Grenadine?? I live in Australia, so Aussie stores are prefered. Thx, and Merry Xmas to all!!

“Mai Tai” the orginal recipe is from “Trader Vic`s”, ist a cocktail bar around the world;
rum(white) Martinique rum
1.5 centilitres Red Curacao
3 centilitres of rum (darkly) Jamaica rum
0.75 centilitres of sugar syrup
2 centilitres of lime juice
0.75 centilitres of almond syrup
Preparation:
The ingredients are shaken with Crushed Ice in the cocktail shaker and are strained off in a glass with Crushed Ice. May Tai with a mint branch and a cocktail cherry is decorated.
(perfect mixture! Instead of Red Curacao one can also take Cointreau)
May Tai is one of the most popular cocktails generally, and just, therefore, there probably are so many prescription variations. This prescription is in the possibly original prescription which was invented by Trader Vic. The quality of May Tais strongly depends on two used rum kinds which should be dark, actually, both. For the dark Jamaica rum one finds often: Myer `see rum, Appleton Estate V/X. For Martinique rum: Mount Gay Premium White Rum (actually, Barbados), or the Saint James Rhum Royal Ambre (dark Martinique, because according to original prescription both rum kinds were dark.)
