how much is “1 part” when mixing drinks?
I found a recipe for making “Killer Kool Aid”.
It lists: 1 part rum, 1 part gin, 1 part vodka, 1 part chambord, 1 OZ sour mix, 2 OZ cranberry juice
Now, if these were all parts, or OZ’s I’d understand. But with them being mixed, do I assume that
the 4 parts should equal 1 OZ? And anytime I run into this situation, the alcohol should always sum up to an ounce, regardless of how many different parts there are?
Whoever wrote out that recipe probably did so after drinking too many of them. If you think that you would like this alcoholic hash, mix up equal parts of the liquors and mix sour mix and cranberry juice in a 1:2 ratio. Now, start sampling different proportions of the two mixtures. Start with a tablespoon of each and go up or down to get the mixture you like the pest. I know, it’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
